Wedding Photographer, Div Martiz
Wedding photographer, Div Maritz answers a few questions from us. He is known as a wedding photographer with an eye for the ultimate picture perfect moment.
Q: Tell us a bit about yourself and how you got started as a wedding photographer?
A: I originally started as a Model in the commercial & Film industry back in 2001. I was very fortunate enough to do well in TV commercials where my interest for film & photography took shape, having worked with some seriously creative photographers and directors. Plus, having my friends in the industry always meant I was surrounded by like-minded people to push my passion and interests in the right direction. I also assisted some of South Africa’s top photographers which made my transition from assisting to going solo as a wedding photographer, a confident and smooth one.
Q:What about weddings excites you and make you enjoy your job?
A: I enjoy working with people and I love to travel. As a Documentary photographer, a wedding offers me all that, plus a wedding day is a treasure trove of photographic content. The people, the emotions, the expectation of the bridal couple mixed in with the stunning décor and beautiful venues makes the job exciting and fun.
Q: Where do you get your inspiration from?
A: Being a photographer, your learning curve never ends, there’s always a challenge or another project that will challenge your creative skill set. My inspiration is to meet those challenges and to push my boundaries in terms of what can be done and better it.
Q: What is the highlight of your career so far?
A: Traveling to international destinations for shoots and shooting high profile weddings and portraits of international sportsmen.
Q: Why the Garden route? What makes the Garden Route so special?
A: I was born in the Garden Route and being fortunate enough to have traveled all over South Africa for weddings, I can honestly say the Garden Route is truly a special place like no other. The wedding community is pretty much stuck in a rut with regards to choices like the Cape Winelands and Natal Midlands…don’t get me wrong those are stunning places, but people don’t know what the Southern Cape has to offer yet as a wedding destination. The Garden Route offers massive diversity in scenery and locations, stunning well-priced venue’s, talented service providers and great accommodation. Plus, who doesn’t want to spend time in the Garden Route? For me it’s an absolute no-brainer!
Q: What advice or tips can you give couple wanting to get married?
A: Enjoy your day…it doesn’t matter if everything doesn’t work on schedule, or everything isn’t perfect! What matters is that you enjoy the day as it’s for YOU! Most importantly, you have one chance to capture your special day so make sure it’s captured by a professional…. That being said, I can’t wait to shoot your special day! 😊
