What an incredible day we had at the recent Garden Route Weddings Meetup hosted by Surval Boutique Olive Estate in Oudtshoorn. It turned out to be one of those perfect Karoo days — warm sunshine, blue skies, and views that just seem to go on forever.

Even though we had a few last-minute cancellations and no-shows (again?!), we were still surrounded by an amazing group of vendors who truly showed up with heart. From long-time supporters like Oudtshoorn Tourism to talented photographers, planners, and designers, it was a great mix of creative, passionate people.

Surval was the ideal venue for this kind of gathering. The moment you drive in, you’re greeted by olive trees, mountain views, and that unmistakable Klein Karoo charm. The team at Surval went above and beyond — their staff were warm and welcoming, and the service was spot-on from start to finish. And the food… absolutely fantastic! Beautifully prepared, full of flavour, and exactly what you’d expect from a place that’s known for its hospitality.

It’s easy to see why Surval is such a popular wedding venue. With its elegant on-site chapel, beautiful reception spaces, and the kind of scenery that makes you want to pause and just take it all in, it’s the perfect setting for both intimate celebrations and big weddings.

But more than anything, this meetup was about connection. Vendors shared stories, ideas, and plenty of laughs. It was a reminder of what the Garden Route Weddings community is all about — supporting one another, building genuine relationships, and celebrating the people who make this industry so special.
