Plett in Bloom

Julie from Plett in Bloom

1) How, when, where and why did you get started as a wedding vendor?

I come from a five-star hospitality background. Over the years I managed and coordinated all kinds of special events—weddings, conferences, milestone birthdays, product launches, VIP groups, you name it. In 2020, the chance came up to buy the florist, and that’s when a new chapter began for me. It felt like a natural next step: taking everything I’d learned about events and pouring it into flowers and celebrations.

2) What services do you offer, and what can clients expect when working with you?

Our joy is to “tell the story”—with flowers, thoughtful hampers, our time, and most importantly, by listening. We offer daily flower orders for collection or delivery, beautiful bespoke hampers tailored to personal tastes, and we even do fresh bakes, frozen meals, and savoury nibbles—especially helpful for families with elderly parents or grandparents in Plett. We create flowers for life celebrations, milestone birthdays, Christmas wreaths, home arrangements, and of course, wedding florals.

I like to chat with each bride to understand her vision for the day, the venue of choice, and the budget, and then work out how I can help make it the best day ever. Beyond wedding flowers, we can assist with wedding planning and coordination, décor and event rentals, and all-round support for the couple as they navigate their wedding journey.

3) How do you stay inspired and continue to innovate?

I believe in following your heart and staying true to a strong work ethic. I love working with brides who bring individual ideas and a personal twist to their day. We live in such a beautiful part of the world, surrounded by incredible fellow vendors and wonderful venues that help a wedding run seamlessly. That combination keeps me inspired and always looking for fresh, authentic touches.

4) What’s the most important advice you give clients?

Your venue sets the tone. If you choose a forest or beach ceremony, for example, you can’t (and shouldn’t) compete with the natural beauty around you. Instead, we design to complement the venue’s strengths and its “wow” or fun factor. I also encourage couples to see how one choice influences another—like how the menu might affect table décor and the space available at the reception. Everything connects, so we plan with the full picture in mind.

5) What are some memorable weddings you’ve been part of, and why do they stand out?

Too many to count! I’m truly blessed to still be in touch with many of my brides, and I love being part of their wedding journey. The most memorable celebrations are the ones where the couple’s personality shines through and we’ve created something that feels unmistakably “them.” Those are the stories that stay with me.
