At Herold Wines, we love seeing your faces smile. Nestled on the slopes of Cradock Peak in the Outeniqua Mountains, between George and Oudtshoorn, our little wine farm is more than just bottles and vines — it’s a place to breathe, explore, celebrate, and be yourself.

What you can do here

First things first: wine tasting. We offer relaxed, warm tastings right in the working cellar — sometimes by the fireplace, other times at vine-shaded tables. Over in the tasting room (which also doubles as a small restaurant), we serve light meals, pancakes, burgers or platters, paired with cheese boards and our favourite Pinot Noir.

Love picnics? You’re in the right spot. Spread a rug among the vines, enjoy a hamper or picnic box, soak up the views, and maybe pop the question while the sun dips low.

For the adventurous souls, there are walking trails, farm roads and secret footpaths that lead through vineyards, fynbos and mountain pools.  A special gem: on our property lie ancient Khoi-San rock paintings you can visit while hiking.

Stay a while

If you want more than a day trip, our self-catering cottages are perfect. Each is fully equipped (kitchens, fireplaces, braai areas), sleeps from 3 to 6 guests, and invites you to switch off from the world and tune into nature.

Weddings, events & pampering

Planning an intimate wedding? Our venue offers a romantic rustic charm in a vineyard setting. We also host private events, retreats, wellness getaways and more. And if you really want to spoil yourself, we can arrange a deep tissue massage during your stay (just ask us).
